NZ irradiance & yield

Capacity factor 14–22 % depending on region (Northland highest, Southland lowest). Yield range: 1,100–1,450 kWh/kWp/year. Sources: NIWA SolarView, MBIE Energy Outlook, EECA business cases, plus TPC site data from Auckland, Hawke's Bay, and Central Otago installs.

Capex bands (NZD, ex GST)

C&I rooftop: NZ$1.65–2.40/W. Ground-mount 1–10 MW: NZ$1.45–1.95/W. Utility 10 MW+: NZ$1.15–1.55/W. BESS: NZ$480–720/kWh installed (PCS, container, fire suppression, install). Bands cover lines-company connection costs from low-strain to high-strain feeder upgrades.

Equipment sizing

Module count = DC (kWp) ÷ module Wp. Inverters sized at 350 kW per string unit (Sungrow SG350HX equivalent, AS/NZS 4777.2-listed). MVPS skids at 4 inverters each. BESS containers at ~5 MWh per 20-ft unit (LFP, liquid-cooled, NFPA 855 / UL 9540A compliant).
