Privacy Policy.

How TPC Solar collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information — under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and the twelve Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).

This Privacy Policy explains how Hadid Group ("TPC", "we", "us") handles your personal information when you visit our website, use our calculators, request a quote, contact us, or otherwise engage with our services in or relating to New Zealand. We are bound by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its twelve Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).

1. Scope & who this applies to

This policy covers personal information about visitors, prospects, customers, and contacts of TPC Solar in connection with our New Zealand operations. Some of our suppliers and partners are based offshore (China, Australia, USA) — see "cross-border disclosure" for how we manage that.

2. What we collect

We may collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identity & contact: name, role, company, email, phone, postal address.
  • Project information: site address, postcode, electricity usage estimates, project type, capacity, timeline, technical preferences.
  • Commercial: billing details, NZBN, GST status (only after a binding engagement).
  • Technical: IP address (used for region-locking the NZ calculator), browser, device type, pages viewed, referrer.
  • Communications: emails, call notes, meeting summaries, signed proposals.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (health, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, political opinion). If you provide it voluntarily we will treat it as confidential.

3. Why we collect it (purpose)

We collect your information for clearly defined, lawful, and necessary purposes (IPP 1):

  • To respond to your enquiry, calculator submission, or quote request.
  • To prepare an indicative or binding proposal for a solar / BESS / EPC project.
  • To deliver an engaged project (engineering, supply, installation, commissioning, O&M).
  • To meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations under NZ law.
  • If you opt in: to send you market updates, case studies, and new product news (you can unsubscribe at any time).

4. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you (forms, calculators, email, calls, in-person meetings) wherever practicable (IPP 2). We may also collect from publicly available sources (Companies Office, NZBN register, LinkedIn, planning portals) when scoping a proposal, and from referrers (if a partner introduces you).

5. How we use it

We use your information only for the purpose for which it was collected, or a directly related purpose (IPP 10). Specifically:

  • Calculator submissions: to email you a copy of your indicative range and to follow up by phone/email within 1 business day.
  • Quote requests: to size, scope, and price a proposal.
  • Active projects: to deliver, invoice, support, and maintain.
  • Aggregate analytics: we may use de-identified, aggregated information for product and market research. This data cannot be linked back to you.

We will not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

6. Who we share it with

We share information only with the parties needed to deliver the purpose above (IPP 11):

  • Internal TPC teams: NZ engineering, China engineering, commercial, accounting.
  • Service providers under contract: CRM (HubSpot or similar), email (Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace), file storage, accounting software. All bound by data-processing agreements.
  • Project partners (with your consent): distribution-network operators, lines companies, FENZ, EPC sub-contractors, financiers, due-diligence advisors.
  • Authorities: regulators, tax authorities, courts, where required by law.

7. Cross-border disclosure (IPP 12)

Our CRM and email systems may store data in Australia, the United States, and the European Union. Our parent company is based in China. Before disclosing personal information overseas we satisfy at least one of the IPP 12 grounds: (a) the recipient is in a country with comparable privacy law, (b) the recipient is bound by binding contractual safeguards, or (c) you have given express consent.

If you would prefer your information stays within New Zealand only, email privacy@tpcsolars.com — we will tell you which services we can offer on that basis.

8. How long we hold it

  • Calculator submissions / unconverted leads: 24 months from your last contact with us.
  • Quote requests that did not convert: 36 months.
  • Active customer records: for the project lifecycle plus 7 years (NZ tax records retention).
  • Marketing list members: until you unsubscribe.

You can ask us to delete your records earlier at any time, subject to any legal hold (e.g. an active dispute or tax record).

9. Security (IPP 5)

We protect personal information using reasonable technical and organisational safeguards: encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, role-based access, multi-factor authentication, off-site backups, and regular reviews. No system is 100 % secure, so we also have a documented incident-response plan.

10. Your rights · access & correction (IPPs 6 & 7)

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Confirm whether we hold information about you.
  • Receive a copy of that information (free, within 20 working days).
  • Correct inaccurate information, or have a statement of correction attached.
  • Delete your information (subject to legal-hold exceptions above).
  • Withdraw consent for any use that is consent-based (e.g. marketing).

11. Cookies & analytics

Our site uses minimal first-party cookies for language preference and form state. We do not currently run third-party advertising trackers. If we add analytics in future (e.g. Plausible, Fathom, or privacy-respecting Google Analytics) we will update this policy and present a cookie banner with consent controls.

The NZ system calculator uses one third-party API call (ipapi.co) for IP-based region confirmation. Your IP is sent to that service and its response (country code, region) is read back; nothing is stored by us. You can decline by blocking the request — the calculator will fall through to manual region selection + postcode validation.

12. Breach notification

If we become aware of a privacy breach that is reasonably likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as soon as practicable, in accordance with section 114 of the Privacy Act 2020.

We may update this policy from time to time. The version number and effective date at the top will change. Material changes will be notified via email to active customers and via a notice on this page.
